MAC Fluidline review and swatches: Blacktrack, Avenue, Macroviolet
Time to pay homage to one of MACs best products, their Fluidlines! This is just a quick review of the three that I currently have. Of course I have the most well known shade Blacktrack, I also have Avenue and Macroviolet. In Australia these cost $32 each, and I must admit, these are probably the best value MAC product available. They are cheaper than a MAC lipstick or an eyeshadow, I can guarantee that you will get more use out of it, and it will last you aaages! Since these are gel products, you can run the risk of these drying out, but if you keep the lids on tight and keep them out of the sun then they can last you years. I also heard that its good to store gel products upside down which keeps the top from drying out. I have had both my Blacktrack and Macroviolet for well over a year, and they are still in perfect condition.
These gel liners contains 3g of product, and you need to apply these with a brush - I generally use the MAC 209 brush. These apply very smoothly, and once these set, they are smudge proof. They aren't waterproof, so they are easy to remove with makeup remover. These also work well on your waterline, but I don't use them on my waterline often because I find applying liner to my waterline with a brush tickles far too much, so I prefer to use a pencil.
I love the packaging of these! They come in heavily little sleek looking glass jars, which feel super expensive and good quality. If it weren't for the Back To MAC recycle program, I would probably keep these little jars when I am finished with them.
So the three shades I have are:
Blacktrack: this is the most popular shade, as it is the matte black of the range. It is super easy to apply, and this liner is very pigmented and dries pretty quickly. This is a staple in any makeup collection.
Avenue: I think this might have been a limited edition, as I can't find this on the MAC website. This is a black brown with gold shimmer. I love this colour because I love the look of brown liner, but I find that if you want to create that bold liner look, you need to use a very dark brown, and this one is perfect! The shimmer is quite noticeable, so I make sure I wear this with a more matte eyeshadow look. This is a really pigmented, and applies really easily.
Macroviolet: I got this in one of those limited edition tartan collection packs, but this Fluidline is part of the permanent collection. This is my least used of the three, as I don't tend to wear purple eyeliner often. I also find that it is the least pigmented of the three, and you do need to apply a thick coat, or two coats, to make this look really bold.
After doing this review, I really want to run out and buy more of these! Do you have any MAC Fluidlines? Which are your favouries and which would you recommend?
